Moon Mirror by Josiah McElheny was on view at James Cohan’s Tribeca Gallery as part of the artist’s debut solo exhibition, ‘Observations at Night’ in 2019.
Often combining glass with other materials, McElheny creates sculptures and installations but also performances, films, projections, and curatorial and writing projects. For Moon Mirror, stainless steel was waterjet, bent and welded to form a matrix to hold a series of custom designed glass tiles. UAP fabricated the structure while Gillinder Glass pressed the beautifully embossed glass tiles. The form was fabricated in six distinct sections, with all components individually delivered and assembled at James Cohan Gallery.
